Service Overview

Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation program that includes education and supervised exercise sessions to improve quality of life post a cardiac event. Program is for clients aged 65 years or above or 50 years or above for Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander people.

Services

Inpatient (Cardiac Rehabilitation) What is this?

8 week program including an initial assessment by exercise physiologist and cardiac nurse, 6 weeks of education and supervised exercise sessions and a reassessment at the end of the program. Sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at our Lucas campus.

Outpatient (Cardiac Rehabilitation) What is this?

Ongoing supervised group exercise sessions for clients that have previously completed a cardiac rehabilitation program.

Maintenance (Cardiac Rehabilitation) What is this?

Heart Failure Management  What is this?

Eligible Patients

Diagnosis

  • Acute coronary syndrome: acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) & stable or unstable angina (chest pain)
  • Coronary heart disease
  • Heart failure
  • Arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm) - Atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)
  • Procedures

  • Re-vascularisation - coronary angioplasty or stenting
  • Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery
  • Valve surgery
  • Defibrillator or pacemaker implantation
