The CPAA is staffed by a team of Exercise Physiologists and supported by Fitness Leaders offering a range of exercise interventions for clients with many and varied chronic conditions

Services

Inpatient (Cardiac Rehabilitation) What is this?

Rolling cardiac rehab program. Session numbers based on individual client need. Tuesday 8:30am. Individualised exercise programs.

Outpatient (Cardiac Rehabilitation) What is this?

Maintenance exercise for cardiac rehabilitation can be offered at various times from Monday - Friday. Clients will be in a group setting, but be given individualised programs, with other clients of varying chronic conditions.

Maintenance (Cardiac Rehabilitation) What is this?

Offered through CALHN and includes individualised exercise, education and other allied health interventions as required. Clients can attend 1x/week on either Tuesday at the CPAA (9:30am or 11:45am with education at 10:45am) or Thursday at TQEH (9:30am or 12pm with education at 11am).

Heart Failure Management  What is this?

The CPAA offers exercise interventions to clients with varied chronic conditions. Apart from cardiac conditions, the CPAA has dedicated programs for bariatric and metabolic clients that include a strong education focus within sessions.

Eligible Patients

Diagnosis

  • Acute coronary syndrome: acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) & stable or unstable angina (chest pain)
  • Coronary heart disease
  • Heart failure
  • Cardiomyopathies
  • Arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm) - Atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)
  • Adult congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, peripheral vascular disease
  • Procedures

  • Re-vascularisation - coronary angioplasty or stenting
  • Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery
  • Valve surgery
  • Cardiac Transplant
  • Defibrillator or pacemaker implantation
  • Cardiac surgery: AAA repair, congenital, LVADS, Arrhythmia Surgery or combination
